Manchester United have been backed to end their interest in Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana and instead turn their attention to Everton stopper Jordan Pickford as he and one of his England team-mates both could join Mason Mount at Old Trafford. The Red Devils have completed the £60million signing of Mount from Chelsea and are now eyeing a David De Gea replacement.
The Spanish goalkeeper confirmed that he would be leaving United on a free transfer through a social media post on Saturday, which only further intensified speculation that would take Onana to the club. United and Inter have been in negotiations as the Italian club look to receive over £42m for Erik ten Hag’s former Ajax goalkeeper, as the two parties are expected to reach a compromise in negotiations.

“Pickford only had just over a year left when he signed the new deal, and he’s one of the best in the world, the recognised number one for one of the best international teams in the world. He’s handy on the ball too. United will have sniffed around to test how Everton are going to handle their ongoing profit and sustainability issues, so they’ll be absolutely on top of their keeper situation, no doubt, whether it’s Onana or Pickford.”
