Manchester United are reportedly aiming to make a final decision on Mason Greenwood's future before the Red Devils' first game of the season against Wolves on August 14. Greenwood has not played for the club since January 2022.
Greenwood remains suspended while United continue an internal investigation. According to ESPN, the inquiry is 'nearing its conclusion' ahead of the new season.
Greenwood was not present for the senior squad's first pre-season training session on Thursday but has been training alone and is allowed to play football again following the conclusion of his trial.
United recently submitted a £42.7m bid for Inter Milan shot-stopper Andre Onana but the Italian giants are said to want a fee in the region of £51m to let him go. If they cannot recoup enough funds to match Inter's asking price then they will be forced to recruit a cheaper alternative.
