Manchester United have reportedly snapped up Arsenal doctor Gary O’Driscoll to put an end to his 14-year career in north London. The recruitment of the highly-regarded medic is said to be a significant coup for the Red Devils, who haven’t won the Premier League title for a decade.

United enjoyed an upturn in fortunes under Erik ten Hag last season and secured their return to the Champions League after finishing third in the Premier League table.

According to The Athletic, O’Driscoll will remain at Arsenal to oversee a transition period and help integrate his successor and will then move to United later this summer. The 52-year-old could have joined Liverpool in 2020 and has previously turned down opportunities to leave Arsenal. But the chance to move to Old Trafford proved too good to turn down and will allow the medic to move closer to his family in the north west.

United will be hoping their endeavours behind-the-scenes will help the club rediscover their glory days from yesteryear. The Red Devils were serial winners under legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson and landed two Champions Leagues, 13 Premier League titles and the Club World Cup as well as five FA Cups and four League Cups under the Scot.
