Arsenal target Jurrien Timber looks set to ignore the advice of Ajax icon Marco van Basten by leaving the club to join the Gunners this summer. Timber, who was targeted by Manchester United before the start of last season, is reportedly closing in on a permanent move to the Emirates Stadium ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

A verbal agreement is already in place to see Timber make the switch for a transfer fee in the region of £40million, according to the Daily Mail. It is also said that an official announcement could be made by the end of this week, with Timber set to follow Kai Havertz and Declan Rice to north London as part of a big-spending recruitment drive from last season's Premier League runners-up.

"Which club you go to, in the dressing room they look like, ‘let’s see’. The moment they don’t feel they are better with you, then they are all against you, because you are an intruder. Then you have to do it alone. You’ve seen this year how difficult it is when you have to go it alone, now that you were among other defenders who were not so good.
