Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is facing the wrath of disgruntled fans on Twitter following the release of the Blues' new home kit for the upcoming Premier League campaign. The west Londoners will wear a retro-inspired strip during Mauricio Pochettino's first season in charge, with the design paying tribute to the 1997/98 team that won the Cup Winners' Cup and the League Cup.

Meanwhile, plenty of other fans expressed their delight at Chelsea's new kit design, with many pleased that no sponsor logo is on the front as things stand. The Blues are still trying to find a new main sponsor following the expiration of their deal with Three at the end of last season and were recently in talks with Stake but quickly withdrew from negotiations due to fan opposition.@thepranarysingh wrote: "I honestly love this kit. Definitely gonna get my hands on it before they put Universal pictures or some random bankrupt crypto company in the front.""This shirt is the best Chelsea jersey I've ever seen," said @NanaKwame_off, while @bpfootball posted: "Not sure what's retro about this kit, but the lack of sponsor has elevated it massively."

The new Chelsea kit is once again made by Nike, who will remain as the club's technical supplier until at least 2032. Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether the Blues will be able to find a new sponsorship deal before the Premier League season gets underway, although many fans would seemingly prefer the front of the shirt to be left blank.A message on Chelsea's official website read: "The new design for 23/24 remembers that special past while additional gold detail, including an iridescent crest, highlights the prestige and glamour of the famous King’s Road in the '90s. Shimmering in gold, the lion roars on the shirt, symbolic of Chelsea’s prestige and history. While changes take place at the club, the pride stays the same."
