Lionel Messi could be reunited with his former Barcelona teammate Andres Iniesta at Inter Miami after the Spanish midfielder announced that he is leaving Japanese side Vissel Kobe this week.

The 39-year-old, who scored the winning goal for Spain in the 2010 World Cup Final against the Netherlands, has played in Japan for the past five seasons after bringing his decorated career at all-conquering Barcelona to a close.

Iniesta's sudden exit has sparked intense speculation around his possible next move and according to Catalan radio station RAC1, he could be about to join up with Messi and his former Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino in the MLS at Inter Miami.

Iniesta is just the latest Barcelona player to be linked with a move to David Beckham's Florida club since Messi's pending arrival was announced. Sergio Busquets, Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba are all out of contract and have been heavily linked with a late-career Messi link-up.
