An assistant referee was forced to leave the field during the USMNT's CONCACAAF Gold Cup clash against Canada last night. Christian Espinosa was left bleeding from his head during the thrilling quarterfinal game and only managed to see out a single minute of action.

The game was an entertaining spectacle which saw two late goals take the two sides to extra time with further two dramatic goals meaning a penalty shoot-out was in order.

The blow came via Canada left back Kamal Miller who went to clear the ball following a challenge with USMNT midfielder Gianluca Busio. Miller managed to win the tackle with an eye to clear the ball from play into the stands.

After Espinosa was replaced by another official, the game was able to continue. The onfield drama then continued when on the 88th minute mark Brandon Vazquez headed home for the USMNT following a cross from DeJaun Jones.
