Manchester United scout Tommy Moller Nielsen has died at the age of 61 after seven years working at the club he joined during Jose Mourinho's time in charge back in 2016. Nielsen, the son of former Denmark boss Richard Moller Nielsen, coached a number of teams over the course of his career but was primarily responsible for scouting players in Scandinavia during his spell with the Red Devils.
Nielsen's wife Lisbeth confirmed the news of his death to Danish outlet Fyens Stiftstidende on Monday, with the family stating that they did not wish to provide further details about the circumstances in which he had died. He was a widely known figure within Danish football thanks to his father, who led the national side to win Euro 1992 against the odds, but Nielsen also managed to carve out a successful career of his own.

Speaking upon his arrival at United seven years ago, Nielsen said: "I am a coach and wanted to coach again, but it is a very exciting and interesting job, I need to start. I get to work with football at the highest level and I am very pleased."
"We’re looking at what the coach is looking at," he said in an interview with Tipsbladet. "What would he like a right-back to be like? Just to take an example. We also need to look at that so we know exactly what we’re going for. But it also has something to do with the attitude and the person as well.
