Liverpool ace Fabinho has raised a Reds transfer issue by admitting his team need half a dozen midfielders because of the way they play. Fabinho came under fire for his underwhelming form last season but now has fellow midfielders Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai as team-mates at Anfield after club chiefs shelled out a combined total of nearly £100million to take the duo to the north west.

Fabinho has played an important role under Jurgen Klopp since joining Liverpool from Monaco five years ago. But last season he struggled to live up to his usual standards, as did Jordan Henderson and Thiago, as the Merseyside giants finished fifth in the Premier League and exited the cup competitions in the early rounds.

“So yes, it’s good to have these two players with us now. We played against them already, so we know how good they are. It’s good to have them in the team.”

And after being asked about the duo’s transition period at Anfield, Fabinho added: “At the moment, Mac Allister and Szoboszlai have arrived. I didn’t see them yet, they have a couple more days of holidays.
