Manchester United remain at loggerheads as they continue to conduct their investigation into Mason Greenwood, according to reports. The England international hasn’t played for the club in 18 months. And while Erik ten Hag is open to having the 21-year-old in his squad for footballing reasons ‘at some stage’, a decision isn’t straightforward.

Greenwood had charges dropped against him in February, with the United striker now free to play football again.

With the forward joining the Red Devils’ academy at the age of six, they ‘feel a duty to offer a path to rehabilitation’.

Greenwood has been training privately for several months as he looks to resume his footballing career once again.

Meanwhile, last month, a source was quoted by The Sun saying Greenwood wanted his future resolved as quickly as possible.

“They have basically said, ‘sack him or back him’.
